What the Valve Does
The float valve is integrated into the plug body. As electrolyte or distilled water enters, the float rises; at the correct level it closes the inlet and the cell stops accepting water. There is no adjustment and no setting: the cut-off point is built into the geometry of the plug.
The practical consequence is that a cell cannot be overfilled through this plug. Overfilling is what pushes acid out through the vent, and acid on the tray is what corrodes terminals, interlinks and the battery box. Keeping the level right is therefore not a cosmetic preference — it is the main thing that decides how long the surrounding hardware lasts.
It also protects the plates. A cell that is allowed to run low exposes the top of the plates, which stops contributing and starts sulphating; a cell that is filled correctly never reaches that state.
Fitting
Hand-tight, no tools. The plug is designed to fit standard 80mm watering-system caps, so it can be used as a replacement in an existing system or as the basis of a new one. Push-in diameter is 34mm; check that figure against the cell opening before ordering, since it is the dimension that decides fit.
Materials and Production
Acid-resistant PP body with a rubber seal, in flame-retardant grades, produced under ISO certified conditions. The material choice matters in this application more than in most: a plug sits in acid vapour for years and has to keep both its shape and its seal.
Where It Is Used
Forklift traction batteries and industrial deep-cycle lead acid batteries that are watered periodically. Both have the same requirement: a level that is set by the plug rather than by the person holding the jug.
Colour Coding
Five colours are available. Where a site runs several voltages, using one colour per class makes a rack readable at a glance and prevents the wrong pack being topped up from the wrong container.

Checking the Cut-Off Before Fitting a Set
Test one plug in a spare cell or a container of water: fill slowly and watch the float close. It should shut decisively, not dribble. A valve that hesitates usually means a plug stored on its side with a slightly distorted float cage, which is worth catching before the set goes onto a pack.
Once fitted, the check is visual only: the level should sit consistently across every cell, which is the signature of valves set the same way.
