320A Charging Currents Need Contact Mass
At 320A the connector stops being a plug and becomes part of the circuit. Contact mass, plating quality and terminal clamping decide how much heat is generated during a fast charge, and the REMA320 is built for that duty: 320A at 600V, PP shell, T2 silver-plated terminals, IEC60309-1:1999 dimensions.

Where the Heat Comes From
Heat in a charging connector comes from three places: the contact interface, the crimp, and the cable itself. At 320A, a small increase in interface resistance produces a measurable temperature rise, and that rise accelerates the oxidation that caused it.
Silver plating and adequate contact mass slow that cycle down. Correct crimping stops it starting in the first place, which is why the terminal drawing matters as much as the connector rating.

Installing on a High-Current Lead
Use the crimp die matched to the terminal, not a generic one, and pull-test before closing the housing. Keep the lead routing free of sharp bends at the connector entry: a cable under strain at the gland transfers load to the terminal, and that is where high-current joints fail first.
After the first week in service, check the housing temperature after a charge cycle. A connector running noticeably warmer than its neighbour on the same charger is telling you the crimp, not the plug, needs attention.
