SBE/SBX housings use mechanical voltage keys: each colour corresponds to a voltage class, and only identical colours can be mated. This is the common industry method to stop a 600V plug from being connected to a lower-voltage battery or charger. Auxiliary Contacts — Intelligent Battery Control

Beyond the two main power poles, the SBE320A integrates up to 8 auxiliary circuits for low-power / signal use. Auxiliary contacts are last-mate / first-break relative to the power contacts, so signal lines always connect after and disconnect before power. Typical uses include:
