The 48V 24-cell pack is the standard traction battery of the 1.5–3.5 tonne electric counterbalance class. The same 24 cells sit under the counterweight of a Toyota 8FB, a Linde E-series, a Hyster J-series, a Yale ERP, a Crown FC, a Jungheinrich EFG, a Clark GEX, a Mitsubishi FB — and on the Chinese-built trucks from Hangcha, Heli and EP that now do the same work in the same yards. Different badge, different controller, same twenty-four cells and the same problem: watering them by hand.

AWS-24 is the kit for that class. Each vent cap is replaced by a float head, the heads are joined in one line, and the tank does the rest. Connect the coupling, open it, watch the flow indicator, disconnect when it stops.

What a 48V Truck Set Contains

Truck Make Does Not Decide the Kit. The Pack Does.

The cell count and the cap pattern decide it. Truck makers buy batteries from FAAM, Hoppecke, Hawker, EnerSys, Exide and from regional assemblers, and the same truck model can leave the factory with different caps depending on the year and the battery contract. That is why a Toyota 8FB in one yard and a Toyota 8FB in the next can need different heads.

So the check is two steps: count the cells (24 on a 48V lead-acid pack) and photograph one vent cap. The cap is bayonet, thread or push-in; the head has to match it. Everything else — pipe, T-piece, indicator, couplings, tank — is the same across the range.

Where the Time Goes in a Multi-Shift Yard

A truck on two or three shifts gets watered between them, by whoever is free, with a jug and a torch. Twenty-four caps, and the ones at the back of the tray are the ones that get missed. The cells that dry out first are always those, and a single dry cell sets the capacity of the whole string.

With float heads the filling is not a judgement call: every valve closes at the same level, including the ones nobody can see. The job stops being unpleasant enough to postpone, which is the change that actually extends pack life — not the minutes saved on the day.

Fitting Notes

Keep the original vent caps after the swap; they are the reference if a second truck with an unknown cap pattern arrives later. Route the 6mm line along the tray and turn with the T-piece rather than bending the pipe, and leave the flow indicator visible when the battery cover is down — it is the only feedback the system gives. On a truck that is loaded and unloaded all day, put the coupling where a hose can reach it without moving the truck.

The Rest of the Range

Questions

Will it fit my Toyota / Linde / Hyster truck? If it is a 48V lead-acid truck with 24 cells, yes — provided the cap pattern matches. Send a photo of one cap and we confirm before shipping.

My pack is a Hoppecke / FAAM / Hawker. Does that change anything? No. The battery brand sets the cap pattern, not the kit logic; the heads are chosen to match the cap.

Can one tank serve two trucks? Yes. The K10 coupling is made to be disconnected and reconnected, so a 20L tank moves between machines.

What water? Distilled or deionised only. The valves control level, not chemistry — minerals in tap water stay in the cells.
