A Finished Assembly, Not a Length of Cable
The difference matters at the point of fitting. A cable on a reel has to be cut, stripped, terminated and tested on site, by whoever is available, with whatever tooling is in the workshop. A finished assembly arrives with the terminations made, the length set and the jacket intact to the lug — which removes the step where most failures are introduced.
Why the Jacket Is Black Rubber
Rubber stays supple where a harder insulation would crack: at the cable entry, at the bend near the cell case, and at the point where a lead hangs from a plug. Black is the conventional choice in a battery bay, where a low-contrast jacket shows acid film and abrasion rather than hiding them.
Where 50mm² and 130mm Fit
A 50mm² conductor carries the current of a mid-size traction pack without becoming the warmest part of the circuit, and a 130mm centre length suits the common cell spacing on stackers and smaller counterbalance trucks. Four steps disappear from the job: measuring in the workshop, cutting, crimping and pull-testing. Check at every battery service, not annually. The two things to look at are the cable entry at each termination and the temperature of the lead after a charge compared with its neighbours. Both take under a minute and both catch the failure before it strands a truck.
