The shortest links in a battery pack do the least visible work and cause the most avoidable downtime. A 25mm cable at 120mm centres is the standard short link for tightly spaced cells: small enough to bend into the gap, large enough to carry the current of a light traction circuit without warming.
The Case for a Short Link
Cell spacing on a traction battery is fixed by the container, not by the cable. Where the posts sit close together, a longer link has to loop, and a loop in a battery compartment rubs against a cell, collects acid film and eventually transfers movement to the lug. A 120mm link sits in the gap the way the pack was designed for.
Short links also make a rebuild faster: fewer positions to measure, fewer lengths to stock, and a set that goes back in the same order it came out.

Construction and Supply
Copper conductor in a black rubber jacket, CE certified, built for screw-type battery connections. Cables are selected from top-class manufacturers and inspected in house. The same family covers 35mm, 50mm and 70mm where the pack needs heavier links, and any length can be produced to measurement.

How Short Links Fail
A 120mm link has very little cable to absorb movement, so almost all of it reaches the termination. That makes the crimp and the torque the two things that decide service life: a poor crimp concentrates resistance at one point, and a loose bolt lets the lug fret against the post until the joint is warm enough to oxidise.
The visible signs are small: a bright ring around the post, a dark patch on the lug, or a link that feels loose when the pack is rocked. Any of them is enough to replace the lead rather than re-tighten it.
Storage and Re-Ordering
Links store well in a dry store away from solvent. Because this is a fixed length, a small stock covers routine replacement without a measurement step, and a custom length is produced when a pack has been rebuilt to a different layout. Orders for a rebuild usually combine 25mm links with heavier main leads, and the family covers both.
