What a Replacement Lead Has to Get Right
A replacement cable is fitted into a pack that is already built, which removes most of the freedom a new design would have. The terminal spacing is fixed, the lug type is fixed, and the route through the compartment is fixed. What can still go wrong is the length and the flexibility: a lead that is 10mm long sits in a loop that rubs against a cell, and a lead that is too short pulls on the terminal every time the pack moves.
That is why the centre length on this cable is quoted as customized rather than stocked in fixed sizes. The measurement is taken between terminal centres on the pack, and the lead is cut and terminated to that figure.

Signs a Cell Link Has Reached the End

Any one of those is enough reason to replace the lead rather than re-tighten it. A flexible connection that has gone stiff has stopped doing the job it was fitted for, even if it still carries current.
How Many to Order
A pack rebuild usually consumes a set of links rather than one, so the count matters as much as the length. Count positions, not cables: where two leads share a terminal, the measurement is taken from that terminal to each of the others, and the set is ordered as a group.
Keeping one spare of the most common length shortens any future stop, since a made-to-order lead cannot be produced during a shift.
