Tank size is the figure buyers ask about last and regret first. A tank that is too small means a refill in the middle of a pack, which is exactly the interruption the system was bought to remove. Below is how the two sizes in this range are matched to strings.

Why 40 Cells Need the Larger Tank
Water consumption scales with cell count. Forty cells take roughly twice what twenty cells take, and the cells at the far end of a long string are the ones that suffer if the tank runs dry halfway. A 60L tank on a 40-cell pack means one connection, one fill, one disconnect — the routine stays short enough to happen.
Quick Fill, Without Judgement
The tank connects through a K10 coupling, water runs into the indicator, then along the run and into each plug. Every head has a float; as its cell reaches level the valve closes and that cell stops taking water. When the last valve shuts, the indicator stops moving and the job is finished. No cell is opened, nothing is measured, and the risk of overfilling — the usual cause of acid on a tray — is removed.

The Environmental Side, Plainly
An overfilled cell vents electrolyte, and that acid ends up on the tray, the interlinks and the floor. Keeping water inside the cells is the environmental argument for this product: no spill, no acid-soaked cloths, no contaminated wash water. It is a smaller claim than it sounds and a more useful one than a slogan.
Fitting Notes
Heads upright and lenses visible, supply line to an accessible point, ends plugged before the first fill, slack at every T. Then fill once and watch the indicator. A flow that never stops means an open end or a blocked filter, and both are visible in seconds.
Sizing Note
Forty heads for a forty-cell 80V pack. Where the pack is a different count, the kit follows the count: 36 heads for a 36-cell string, 24 for twenty-four. The tank follows the string, not the voltage label.
Storing and Moving the Tank
A 60L tank full of water is heavy. Fill it where it will be used, or move it empty and fill from a supply at the bay; either way the coupling is designed for a clean disconnect rather than a wet one. Between uses, store the tank drained and the pipe coiled loosely, so nothing grows in a closed line and no seal sits compressed for months.
