Watering a 24V pack by hand is a task that gets done properly on a quiet day and quickly on a busy one. The AWS-12 removes the judgement: each head closes itself when its cell reaches the correct level, so the person filling the tank does not need to look into a single cell.
Fitting, in Five Steps
| 1 | Replace the vent caps with the 12 watering plugs. Each plug carries its own float valve and a level lens on top. |
| 2 | Join the heads with T-pieces. The T rotates, so the pipe run can follow the pack rather than forcing a straight line. |
| 3 | Fit the flow indicator at the inlet. It carries a filter, which is what keeps grit out of twelve small valves. |
| 4 | Close the ends with the end plugs and connect the 30L tank through the K10 coupling. |
| 5 | Fill once and watch the indicator. When the flow stops, every cell in the string is at level — that is the whole check. |

How the Valve Knows When to Stop
Inside each plug a float rises with the electrolyte. At the correct level the float closes the valve and that cell stops accepting water; the rest of the string keeps filling until its own valves close in turn. When every valve is shut, flow stops at the indicator and the job is finished. There is no timer, no measurement and nothing to remember.
The level lens on top lets a technician confirm the state without opening anything. Tilting the top cover also exposes the electrolyte, which is how temperature is checked when a pack is being commissioned.
Leak Tightness
The system has been used long enough in service for its leak tightness to be judged on results rather than on a claim: a plug that seeps would show as damp around a cell within a week, and that is precisely the failure the design is built to avoid. Each joint is a push fit with its own seal, and the pipe is a single run with end plugs rather than a series of loose connections.
Before You Order
Count the cells, not the voltage. A 24V lead acid pack is normally 12 cells, which is what the AWS-12 is built for; if the pack has a different number, the head count decides the kit, and the tank is sized to the string. Send the cell count and the layout, and the kit arrives as a set rather than as parts to be adapted.
Where the Time Goes
On a 12-cell pack the saving is not dramatic per pack — it is the difference between a task that needs a jug, a torch and a decision, and a task that needs a hose. Multiplied across a fleet it becomes the reason watering happens on schedule instead of when someone notices a dry cell.
There is a second saving that is harder to see: an overfilled cell pushes electrolyte out through the vent, and that acid lands on the tray, the interlinks and the floor. A float that closes at level removes that failure entirely, along with the corrosion it causes.
